Combat Report August. 3, 2002

August 3rd dawned a beautiful day for flying combat.  The weather was a bit warm, but cooler than what we have been getting recently.  The winds were mild, and did not affect the combat flying at all.  Four brave fliers showed up at Mile Hi field for a bit of action, Adam Bryant, Tim Ott, Larry Ott and George Kerr. 5 rounds of combat were flown with a total of 1 kill being made.    We were again using the 100% Wood Fiber streamers.  They seem to hold up well, and still cut without difficulty.  This month we used Blue and Orange.  To me the Blue showed up the best, but to some of the others, the orange was easier to see.  Again this month, we used the RCCA scoring method.

Scores are:

Larry Ott 1 Kill     900 Points

Tim Ott                800 Points

Adam Bryant        520 Points

George Kerr        140 Points

In the first round Larry and Adam had a spectacular near nose to nose midair where one or the other's instincts caused the plane to just miss the  head on collision.  After the danger passed, and the two pilots started to breath again, Larry had grabbed all of Adams streamer.  All other rounds were flown without any cuts or kills.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the September 7th.  Bring a friend and introduce them to R/C Combat.

George Kerr

The next Mile Hi R/C combat meet is Saturday September 1, 2002 at the field, starting at noon.

Field Maintenance Committee

-It was brought up that everyone should pick up trash or pick a week instead of stepping over it.

-It was discussed and agreed the club would allow the adjacent tenant to allowing grazing of cattle on our land if needed with the following provisions.

-The tenant would be responsible for installing a single strand electric fence to the west and east of existing runways.

-Tenant would sign a liability release to the club.

-Use of our land would be on a year-to-year basis, and not permanent.

-The club would have the right to rescind permission if cattle became a problem.

Field Safety Committee

-It was discussed and agreed that forward flight helicopter flying shall abide by the same rules and use the same runway as airplanes. Hovering only shall be permitted in the helicopter flying area to the east of the NS runway.

-Rattle snakes have been spotted at the field so be careful. Long legged pants are encouraged.

-Children should be restrained to designated areas and generally off of the field.
