Mile Hi R/C Combat Squadron's FIRST EVER open Combat Meet. April 6, 2002

Mile Hi R/C Combat Squadron held their FIRST EVER open Combat Meet on the afternoon of April 6th, 2002 at the Mile Hi R/C Flying Club field. Flying in the meet was Luke Corliss, John Jaugilas, Adam Bryant, John Corliss, Ely Corliss, and Ric Emerson flying Roy Olsen's plane.

John, Luke and Ely Corliss shared a plane, so each one flew in a round. With the low number of combat pilots, only one heat was necessary for each round. Four exciting rounds of open Combat were flown using modified National Sport Combat Club (NSCC) rules.

The winds were blowing with strong gusts and changing direction frequently. Despite the windy conditions the brave pilots were not deterred from flying their combat sorties.

The Corliss family plane went down in the first round, but was repaired and flying again in the fourth round. Good job John getting the plane repaired and flying again!! While the Corliss family plane was disabled, the Corliss family flew yours truly's SPAD FNS

Results are as follows:

0 kills, 2 cuts Adam Bryant SPAD Derelict
0 kills, 0 cuts Ely Corliss SPAD FNS
0 kills, 0 cuts Luke Corliss SPAD Derelict
0 kills, 0 cuts John Corliss SPAD FNS
0 kills, 0 cuts John Jaugilas Gremlin
0 kills, 0 cuts Ric Emerson, Roy Olsen team SPAD Derelict

Since this is our first ever meet, the yearly standings are the same as those above. Adam, you have bragging rights for at least the next month! Congratulation Adam!!!

Thanks also to Walt Stroessner for score keeping, Rich Dix for the extra hard hats, and Karl Tolley for the camera batteries.

I am looking forward to the next Mile Hi Combat Squadron meet on May 4, 2002
